Clout - now means attention but back in my day it meant money

Kobe > LeBron. It's only internet stat nerds who think Lebron is better. Watch the games and stop calculating Lebron's PER with your wristwatch calculator.

Clout meant respect. It still kind of does. It's just the type of respect is very very shallow now

Based - I don't get that one.

I think it originated with the rapper Lil B who went by "Based God". It's just another way to say real or authentic, I think. I never use it and never cared for Lil B much. But I know he is known for being the anti-rapper and pioneering not taking shit so serious and just having fun. Fighting against norms. At least, for this generation. Obvious there was rappers before him that went against the grain.

I gotta say, some my recent favorite ebonics are "doing the most" and "whole". I love the easy to understand ones that make sense immediately. Cause it doesn't feel like you're just being a follower when you adapt to them early. You can instantly assess if you like how they sound good or not yourself. The rest, I gotta let settle, because they all sound like a reach in the beginning. Im not gonna just start saying nonsense cause you want me to. But then it becomes more known and finds it's grounding, I might start liking it. Using something before you completely understand it is the epitome of just being a follower.

No idea how that one got there. I just started using it because I understand it enough to use it now. But without knowing the source, it's hard to know if you're using it right immediately. So I just sit back and observe until I understand ot more

Those are two different slang terms and people have been calling things "fire" for ages now.
They can mean pretty much the same thing...that something is great.

And fire still sounds new to me.

nah, fire is the same as good/dope/tight/etc. you wouldn't say something is on good, on tight...okay maybe on dope if you're talking about a person, but you see what i mean.

No, 'on fire' is used to mean that someone is performing very well at something. You wouldn't say "that new CD is on fire"

Hes on fire!! from the old ass NBA jam is a good example of ppl trying to feel old
