Yeah, theyre absolutely nailing the family aspect. Perfect dynamic.

I do wish Clark would have scolded Jordan a little more after breaking Jons wrist. Not for what happened to Jon, but what would have happened if he didnt intervene.

Love that Clark still has to manage his emotions

Definitely think Jon has dormant powers too.

He stopped that punch at super speed, and shouldnt have been able to lift Steels hammer without the gauntlet.

I agree. I knew we would be dealing with family drama since it was a CW show after all but it's actually been done really well.

The problems they are dealing with feel very real and relatable. It's basically "how would Superman fare as a father" combined with "how does a superhero develop their powers while going through puberty". Both are concepts that are taking their time to fully flesh out, which I think makes for some rich story-telling and makes you care about the characters.

For example, the super-hearing plotline has been fascinating. Most superhero properties have that be resolved in a scene or two after a comedic mishap happens, but this episode did a great job of showing that it's tough to learn something new and requires practice. I felt for the kid and couldn't imagine being in his shoes. It's easy to see why superpowers are more a burden to him than a gift.

Weirdly enough, there are some action bits where I'm just waiting to get back to the drama bits as the action bits are more of the same we are used to. Though the latest episode has definitely been great. The climax had me pumped.

It might be the best thing the CW did in years, but it's still the CW, they can't resist making everyone part of the team, it'll be the key point of the finale.

I wouldn't, if you don't have any nostalgia attached to it, it'll be pretty terrible.

Imagine a show in the vein of the current crop of CW ones, except that as well as being pure CW it's also deadly afraid of actually being a superhero show.

They haven't confirmed it but since it's a midseason show for season 2 I imagine it's not doing a full 20+ episodes. Which is really great news, because shorter seasons = more budget per episode and less filler

I don't think they are even trying to make this a love triangle. I think it is simply an issue with actors having better natural chemistry. Not unlike how Ollie had like zero chemistry with Laurel, despite the show trying to make it work and then eventually just giving up and going with Felicity who he had tons of chemistry with.

They might pivot they might not, if they did it wouldn't be until next season.

I'm hoping they don't actually make it a "triangle." They played with it a bit this episode but I doubt (hope!) they're going in that direction.

I predict that the kids will kinda split Supes powers.

Weve seen Jordan show strength, heat vision, and durability.

Jon may have super speed(possibly shown), maybe ice breath, or flight. Hopefully this comes naturally, and he doesnt need the X kryptonite

I highly highly recommend that you watch the utterly fantastic Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman. It is brilliant.

As for the topic at hand I never knew until now that they were making a new Superman series. Unfortunately I am in the UK so no way of seeing it.

I was beginning to wonder if they would ever make a new Superman series since it has been almost 24 years since Lois & Clark ended.

Juding by those posted pictures the actor chosen for Superman looks so wrong for the part. Looks for too thin and the suit looks horrible.

Speaking of ice breath, this was such a small detail in the latest episode, but I really liked it.

When Jordan was sitting on the couch looking down and being all defeated in the living room and wouldn't acknowledge Clark when he was calling him, Clark shot a small mist of ice breath at his head to get his attention, causing him to look up in surprise.

That put a smile on my face because that seems like such a dad thing to do if a dad had superpowers. Basically using the powers in such a mundane way to parent. Can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing.

Yeah, that scene was so cool. He mentions several times that he struggles with his emotions, like Jordan, but it was great to see.

Also in the most recent episode, he almost beat Steel after he was already defeated. Until Lois called out, and he immediately stopped.

Reeves played a great Silver age Superman and Dean Cain...did good for what was essentially a slice of life show starring Superman (but fuck Dean Cain as a person, what an asshat). Neither portrayed a post-crisis Superman like this show is doing.

Also neither were particularly large.
