Your post about the data being wrong because you don't encounter 'females' in gaming communities got you attention but you were banned for calling the person mocking you a White Knight. That was the proof that they don't want you there.

"surely all these females are buying a PS5 for their husband or children" is sexist as hell.
I didn't say all. I was questioning what the statistics were about. Did they determine "ownership" by who purchased the system or what?

I wasn't the only one who did so. I wasn't the first or the last in that thread. It wasn't until I started trying to explain my usage of the word female after that woman blew up that I was banned for misogyny and some nonsense they tacked onto it.

I didn't plan on sticking around that place anyway so no big deal. I didn't expect this thread to go on for all these pages.

Pretty sure they would have measured ownership by the primary account used for each console.

Quite possibly.

But to have a PSN account you have to be 18 or older, or be linked to the primary account of someone that age as a sub-account. You have to be that age to buy DLC since credit cards and all. So if any systems are bought for kids, a parent would have to do this.

I just like to think outside the box. People who don't question things are the most dangerous.

I got banned for down playing racism because I didn't agree that John Walker referring to the spears that Dora Milaje used as pointy sticks made him inherently racist.

Even if we assume that's possible then it also wouldn't be including Dads that are primary accounts for their daughters. It also doesn't explain the rise in the statistic since PS1 since presumably that would also be common then. If anything that would be more common since Mom wouldn't be setting up anything.

I'm sure Sony has some way to measure this. They're very much focused on who is buying their console and why.

I dunno there wasn't even a PSN when PS1 was released hence it wasn't an online console. No doubt it's way easier to track ownership now than it was in 2000.

Yes so they were likely surveying people who bought the console. The fact that it's easier to track now indicates that they're probably not wrong.

I'm honestly not really sure what's so hard to believe about it. I think the increase of women in video game stores, the media and the industry in general has been pretty noticeable. There's still a 20% difference between men and women which isn't small.

I have no doubt there are more women gamers than before.

But I still doubt that the 41% ownership represent people who actually play. I know a lot of people. I know tons of mothers who buy games for their kids, and very few who actually claim to game themselves.

It just doesn't sound realistic to me.
