The game teaches us that escapism is not a good thing. That life sucks but we must stand up and endure the reality of it. That we are wiser and happier once we accept who we are.

I believe it would do lots of good to Internet people if these morals were taught to them and what better way than a video game.

Restarting fights because that one weapon didn't drop or get stolen, then passing that one weapon around to get everyone that one skill that's only on that one weapon, sucked the life right out of FFTA.

I wouldn't have pointed it out otherwise - you pretty obviously described A1's plot - but A2's story was such irredeemable dogshit that it destroyed my faith in Squeenix to tell even a competent story (and I liked A1's story, for the record); just had to make sure you weren't deliberately trolling, lol.

And Montblanc is kinda fucked up for going along with the destruction of his world with this dude he just met being casually racist on the street.

But yeah, it's a great game that suffers from not being the sequel to FFT that people wanted to see.

Marche was a beta bitch cuck as much as the rest of the group. Make no mistake about that. The only difference was he at least managed to understand it was all fake and they need to get out of it.

most of his friends were against him though, including Doned who you can't even recruit

A2 doesn't have a plot, but I liked the gameplay. I don't think I can go back to playing A1.

Tactics advance had a pretty awesome soundtrack for a Gameboy advance game.

I never finished it when I played it, though I know the story. Restarting the game is on my to do list in the near future.

I've completed the game twice and I couldn't tell you. I'm pretty sure the writers themselves couldn't tell you. All I remember is the villain having some shady past with Cid, a giant extradimensional shadow monster, and the annoying girl side character having secret plot-related powers. Most of the game's main quest missions completely ignore the overarching plot - even the second to last main quest mission has no relevance to the plot, just some bullshit about tracking down a couple of idiot copycats impersonating Vaan and Penelo.

Imagine a version of Skyrim where the dragons and Alduin are rarely ever brought up during the main quest, and the second-to-last main quest mission is tracking down some low-rent Brynjolf impersonator in Riften. Then at the last second someone realizes 'oh yeah, I guess you'd better go deal with that Alduin guy before he, y'know, eats the world and everything.' That's FFTA2's plot.

Even though I liked FFTA, I wouldn't consider it particularly great storytelling. But hell, even it understood the importance of keeping the plot relevant to the missions, and pacing it accordingly - by comparison it's second-to-last quest was the epic final showdown between your clan and Clan Ritz.

Montblanc died in my playthrough. I just forgot to revive him and didn't know the game would take him away forever

And yeah the soundtrack for TA is pretty good, very catchy and tense when it needs to be

I love FFTA2 but it really doesn't have much of a plot. I play it purely for the gameplay, which there is a ton of!
