I've known for several months now that my landlord wants to renovate my apt. This isn't news... but today I found out the extent of it. He's gong for full renovations. Like I will have to full on move out for a month minimum. He is planning on selling the property *see below and wants to maximize all 3 units.

I hate the idea of moving. It's not clear that I have to though. He confirmed that I've been an ideal tenant and even though I will have to move out and get all my stuff out through the entire month of July so he can do his renovations (at least I save a month on rent lol), I'm welcome to come back and he hopes I do, but he will have to raise the rent a lot (in fairness, I've been paying the same amount for almost 8 years... still, I can't afford much higher rent).

Seems like I will be living with my parents for the month of July. Thankfully they are now only about 10 minutes away (used to be over an hour) so that's convenient timing. Also I'm now getting recommendations to move entirely... either to find a new apt (I don't think I could find a good one that's cheap enough) or a house or condo (the latter is better)...

but also, since the landlord is selling this place, I could technically make an offer. It's a matter if that's worthwhile and if I can make one good enough. I couldn't buy it outright. It's a 3 unit house and is estimated as at least 400k. In a pinch I could put up maybe half that with the help of my brother, and he and his gf are looking to move this way from about an hour away so we could potentially cover like 200k down and take 2 units, then lease out the larger upstairs unit to help pay it off. I dunno. I have not mentioned this to the landlord yet. I only really thought about it tonight.

I don't know what I will ultimately do but I have a month to figure it out. It's just going to be the biggest thing to figure out that I have had to figure out in over a decade, I am anxious as fuck, but I'm relieved to at least have more information on it than I did 24 fucking hours ago lol...
