Her ad revenue was just a small fraction of her income related to streaming. Thats why she continued hot tub streaming even after she was demonetised without warning. Shes also pulling 3-5x more viewers doing hot tub streams than what she was before she started doing it - so overall its clearly worth it for her to continue even with the pathetic as revenue she gets now.

hence why I dont feel particularly sorry for her.

shes still making crazy money for being a streamer despite losing twitch ad revenue.

my wife wishes she was 10 years younger to capitalize on this, 8 years of schooling and masters degree and she could only dream making this sort of scratch.

Yes. But the issue is her current job would be in jeopardy. So risking a chance at making money as a streamer at her age isnt worth giving up her career.

So its not so much her age thats limiting her but throwing away 12 years of pension and benefits.

They should be consistent with their rules and not arbitrarily start enforcing them without prior warning. They were 100% fine with hot tub streams until it upset advertisers and then instead of warning their content creators decided to make an example.

i think more people have an issue with there being no heads up about this issue.

but at the same time Im sure their TOS explicitly states this can happen at any time without notice just like every other TOS states.

I mean, these hot tub people were clearly exploiting a technicality in the rules. They meet the bare minimum requirements of a "hot tub," which is most often an inflatable kiddie pool in their bedroom, to have an excuse to wear extremely skimpy clothing. It's just porn.

Advertisers have a right to choose the sort of content their brand is attached to, and if they don't want to be associated with porn, then it's up to Twitch to separate the categories appropriately. Twitch and the advertisers did nothing wrong in this case.

"Hot tub" streamers took a good faith rule that wouldn't punish streamers for going to the beach and turned it into an excuse to wear what's essentially lingerie on a website for kids 13+

Yep, they weren't breaking any of the rules but they were infringing on the spirit of the rule. These hot tub streamers knew exactly what they were doing.

With that said, I'm in agreement with many others that Twitch needs to be better at communicating with their streamers. Sure they're going to prioritize their advertisers, but you also need to have a somewhat healthy relationship with the streamers as well. Though I think the reason Twitch can get away with their shitty communication is that they're so damn powerful. No other streaming service can keep up with them, except for maybe youtube.

Big problem is Twitch really seems to want their share of the simp money so they allow these people to get away with more than they should, but then it comes back around when they arbitrarily decide to actually enforce the rules. They should honestly just create an 18+ tits-only section at this point.
