Basically it's the ultimate conspiracy. All of the other theories tie into it, but they're just the tip of the iceberg.

For most flat earthers it is a religious thing -- the true world is flat, beneath the earth is another plane of existence (hell) and the stars and space are not what they say they are. They're unknowable heavenly objects in another plane (heaven). Beyond the edge of the world is a massive plain of ice inhabited by giant beasts

The reason NASA lies about this is because they have been corrupted by Satan, and by hiding the true nature of the world leads people away from god. The only people who actually know are the illuminati, who control NASA and everything, and the NASA agents just get paid hush money or something

This sounds like an awesome netflix miniseries but he just needs to go sailing

Imagine the sun as a shaded lamp that tilts so it focuses more heat in certain spots on earth for a while.

Anyway, I think this is more dummies looking at the horizon and saying "that shit looks flat to me" then coming up with a network of convoluted, nonsensical arguments and possibilities to justify it.

The absurdity of the flat-earth model can be simply illustrated by holding a flashlight over a table. There is no "night", just "slightly less lit".
That's why it had to evolve into "sombrero earth".

Basically our Earth is actually one of many and the ice wall (more like an ice field I guess) separates us from these alternate Earths.

Basically no one flat Earther can agree on anything. One flat Earther will tell you that it's just one flat Earth, with a wall of ice around it, and a dome that protects it from a "space ocean". The moon, sun, and stars are just a type of projection or imprint on the dome and that the dome is always moving around giving the illusion.

Another will claim that beyond the wall and dome lies a beautiful and mystical land that no man has ever been to.

It's a consequence of poor science education and a complete lack of faith in institutions, received knowledge, and gatekeepers. Plus like others say, some have religious motivations and most want to or benefit from feeling like they have secret knowledge that others are just too brainwashed to discover.

I don't think it's a coincidence that conspiracism has grown so much post Watergate, Vietnam, the collapse of the middle class, the financial crisis etc. People used to trust without investigating, but now people just trust different things after an incompetent Facebook group and Youtube based investigation.

How do you explain people with degrees in fields (such as engineering) that support flat earth theory?

In the documentary I watched they proved the Earth wasn't flat at least 2 separate times.

So there's an argument to be made whether a person who blindly believes in something is more stupid than the person who continues to believe despite the evidence proving the contrary.

I got interested in this and tried looking it up. Do you have any source for it? From what I can find, the iron dome in Hebrew is called "kippat barzel", and was called that name because the "golden dome" was regarded too ostentatious. Both Wikipedia and the military wikia pages cite the same quote. Meanwhile, in the Firmament page you linked, it says that The word firmament translates shamayim () or rqa (), a word used in Biblical Hebrew. So am I missing something here?
