But today I didnt by accident.

Dominos pulls up, and out comes a female driver with a injury boot on, was gonna go outside and grab it so she didnt have to come up the 3 steps out front but she hustled right to the door.

Anyways I take the pizza, thought she said she had to grab the card thing, thinking I had to sign for something, put the pizza inside expecting to her be back in a second and she closes the driver door and takes off.

I just pay and tip ahead of time because I never have cash

$5 through the store, more than that when I've been ordering during the pandemic and via my town's local delivery service (i'm out of all of the local store's delivery range without a third party service) or door dash.

Although that said I've got like 5-6 years on and off of delivery experience at this point and when i'm delivering I basically just get food from work.

No they don't, i have literally been a delivery driver for pizza hut, papa johns and dominos.

Depends on what I get. Ill generally do like $4ish and then round up to the nearest dollar.

Usually $5, but I'll go as high as $10 for shitty weather. I never order big orders, but if I ever do it'll probably be $10-15, more if it's also a shitty weather day.

I don't use cash so never. Uber Eats let's you tip online but you have to do it before delivery, makes no sense to me

I originally intended to reply saying I have been doing this for 20 years but then I stopped to think about that for a second. 20 years.

The world is kind of different now and inflation over that time period is probably 50%. Everything has become more expensive from food to gas. Or maybe the rising price of gas is part of that. But for 20 years I have almost always been giving a flat $5. While that has pretty much always amounted to 20% or more in my case, they are expending fuel and vehicle lifespan as they risk their lives in some small way to deliver that food.

I realized long ago that not getting a raise is similar to taking a pay cut due to inflation and that this infuriates me, but until now I hadn't stopped to consider that I have been guilty of this myself for 20 years.

I don't like restaurants forcing me to pay their employees for them.

me neither but I also dont hate those employees and know that me not tipping isnt gonna stop the company from using tipping unless the employment market becomes so worker friendly that workers can eschew tipped employment
