Current Events > What's the point of a reference number if it doesn't reference much to anything?

So I was tryna take an online Microsoft exam and there was a malfunction so I couldn't take it. The proctor said oh well and gave me a reference number and for me take it to Customer Service.

I called Customer Service with the reference number and they re-asked all of my information. What my name is, address, email, how I signed up for the exam, through what middle party, registration IDs, etc etc etc. I got impatient and asked Customer Service if my reference number actually gave her any information or if it actually referenced anything.

She said yes it does pull up some of my information and then told me my case is pending and we would have to wait 3-5 days for their team to investigate the issue and then they'll respond back to me. What a bitch.

As a former sysadmin you should be aware that MS helpdesk are literally the definition of 'reading a script'
Don't be mean to them.

I wasn't mean to the agent. I was more upset at the process and how unseemless it is.
