You ever played the Batman Arkham games? Same thing, just set in Middle-Earth.

The Nemesis system is pretty unique and fun too.

I tried to get through shadows of war but it just got way too repetitive and boring by the second act.

really fuckin fun imo

really liked the first one. the teleport move you can do with the bow is nuts.

didn't enjoy the second as much.

Shadow of Mordor is dope. Really liked the nemesis system and all the unique ways you can take down orc armies. The final boss was pretty bad though, but it didn't ruin the game for me.

Shadow of War I enjoyed at first, it's basically all that made the first game great, just bigger. But by the second half of the game it got way too repetitive. And in order to get the definitive ending you have to grind so much. I never completed it for this reason.

They are very fun if you just look at them as Orc Murder Simulator 2014 and Orc Murder Simulator 2017

They're pretty great.

Take Arkham combat, set it in Middle Earth with the awesome Nemesis system, profit. You'll get the most out of it if you really mess around with the Nemesis system. Fuck with the orcs, like brainwashing every bodyguard a captain has then commanding them to turn on him, or let a random mook orc kill you so he gets promoted, then manipulate things so he gets promoted to the top of the chain before you show up and kill him, things like that.

The second one had a VERY grindy endgame at launch but they patched it to be like a quarter of the previous length and it's way better now.

The Nemesis system ruined the game for me (only played the first one). Eventually (and it doesnt even take that long), you cant even play the game because an endless stream of nemeses are sent after you. Like seriously youll spend a shitload of time killing one and then try to head to your quest marker but nope 15 seconds after you killed the last one heres another.

Nah. More options in combat, more options in the Nemesis system, better variety of areas, the second one is better than the first.

Sounds like an outlier to me, that's not very common.

I didn't create nemeses unless I wanted to. Beheading them via execution almost always prevents them from coming back.

The second one somehow managed to have an even worse story than the first, but all the Orc Murder Simulator parts are just better. Which makes the sequel a better game.

First one was great, but Nemesis system was completely uneventful. I don't get how anyone can even remember the generic names and enemies long enough to form any meaningful story out of it. I played the sequel for like two hours and dropped it. I'm not sure if I didn't like it, or if it was just too much of more of the same.

Huh, its possible I just missed that. Its been years. Maybe Ill try the games again someday.

they're good. just play the second game and watch the 'true' ending on youtube when you get tired of the end game grind. everything up until that point is great, though the plotline is kind of stupid.

i only played the shadow of mordor. had to do that one challenge to take out every captain/warlord in under a set amount of time. i got within 30 seconds of failure had to go fast.

still haven't done it on ps4 (physical) but i plan to go back to it sometime.
