Over the years working on my current job I would get a couple of friends requests on Facebook from coworkers. Sometimes their profile names don't match their real life name and their profile picture is just some random photo that doesn't have their face on them so it's impossible for me to know it's a specific person unless I get told in advance that this seemingly random facebook account is them lol. Like I don't mind, I'll go along with your online persona.

Then one time I was talking to one of those coworkers in person and we randomly were talking about something she posted on Facebook and then I thought about how her Facebook profile doesn't really match anything about her in real life so I was just curious and asked her "why are you under a random name on Facebook?" she basically answered that she was trying to hide from her ex since they were extremely obsessive with her that she had to make a new Facebook page and change her number to get the fuck away from them. Damn...

Then I got curious and asked another coworker the same question and his answer was basically the same, to hide from specific people. Is this why like people run around Facebook with fake names and shit? To hide from someone? That actually makes sense tbh, and as a forever alone I didn't even think about the possibility of trying to hide from someone. I just thought they were just going along with some sort of new identity because they liked that specific name or something >_>
