This is literally a daily struggle for Black and brown journalists in Chicago, and I wish that was the conversation instead of people who have access to the mayor every single day complaining about one day that they dont have access.

That doesn't say "only black and brown people allowed" nor does it say "no white or Asian reporters allowed". If she has said what you are saying she is, cite it.

you may or may not fall into that group but that statement is absolutely a factor for a lot of peoples perspectives.

This is "racism against White people" in the same way that making efforts to ensure that minority owned businesses have access to COVID relief funds is.

(Hint for those who are going to read this the wrong way: neither are racism.)

NO. It is not ignorance to systemic racism that causes our societal problems. Systemic racism and systemic sexism is/has been the historical strategy to manipulate labor. Systemic racism and systemic sexism create classes with competing economic privileges.

Knowledge of what is being done to us will enable us to end this system but I think it is wrong to blame the victims.

We literally had a white supremacist in the Whitehouse who ran his reelection campaign by summoning white supremacist to stand back and stand by. Then when the disgusting toad lost the election, he commanded them to attack congress.

I don't think that really has any bearing here, but I believe the answer is to balance rather than flip and do the exact inverse. As I said, you can open up access to more reporters without cutting others off entirely

Indeed. One of the complaints that stood out to me was that the mayor's office would often take weeks to respond to inquiries by certain PoC-run outlets, and that seems like a problem that could be solved without cutting off other reporters' access

Normally this sort of thing wouldn't bother me, but in the past 4 years we've seen what happens when public officials deliberately go out of their way to not hear opposing viewpoints, and it breeds misinformation, resentment, us versus them mentality and generally undermines the concept of democracy.

Republicans, and to a lesser extent democrats, have embraced a culture of isolation in political and social thought, and it's not a sustainable way of addressing a nation's problems in a democratic manner.
