Summary for those unwilling to click: FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS An attempted mass shooting was stopped by an armed citizen and his hunting rifle, after seeing a man shoot and kill someone at an apartment complex and then fire on others. Before the suspect was taken down, he unfortunately was successful with killing 87-year-old Lois Hicks, who was gunned down inside her apartment. Witnesses say the suspect yelled and tried getting people outside of their apartments. Hicks was one person who did come out, to console the suspect, according to witnesses. When people realized that he had a gun, they ran back inside. After the suspect shot and killed Hicks, he continued on. As the 26-year-old suspect continued firing a resident grabbed his hunting rifle and shot and killed the suspect, ending the assault on the residents of the apartment complex. Hicks is said to have run back into her apartment after seeing the gun, but failed to close the door. Dude was suffering from PTSD apparently. UnfairRepresent 05/20/21 9:01:47 AM #10:	I used to know a guy in a retirement home who was captured in WW2, his friends were killed and he was taken to a POW Camp. He escaped with another prisoner but never really recovered from it. When he got old and his mind started to go, he woke up every morning thinking he was still trapped in the camp. He was anxious and belligerent every morning until he grabbed one of the nurses and they "escaped " together Once he had "escaped " (Aka walked down the hall and then walked back) he settled down and was reasonably happy and lucid for an old man with dementia. He just had to mentally in his mind "Escape the camp" every day or he couldn't function I felt bad for him and every time stuff like this happens I think about what would have happened to him if he didn't have a supportive family/mental healthcare services.
