I've never even been to CT & I voted New Haven bc there's an apizza place in Minneapolis that's easily the best I've had in my home state. Can only imagine how good the real thing is...

i'm a big fan of deep dish chicago, and detroit has the best crispy bits, but i've got to give it to new york. its the default style for a reason.

coincidentally, you can get a somewhat close approximation of detroit style if you make the pizza in a cast iron pan.

I don't think that's really a style though. Looks more like whatever style all the major chain pizzas are, just local to KC & maybe a little better.

I'm sure New Jersey and New York are similar, but New Jersey for me. We had a guy from Jersey who ran a pizza place down the street from where I lived in my mid-20's and it was aweeeeesome. Lots of sauce, nice big flat slices with good fresh ingredients(not super frou frou high quality but legit) and he ordered all his deli meat from there too. Favorite pizza of all time, me and the lady had our first real date there :)

So yeah Imma go with that. We got pizza in new york too and it was awesome. I love deepdish as well but apparently there is like some war or something idk

New Haven. Though I must admit I've only actually been to Pepe's(which happens to be right next door to Sally's and is the most famous one) and I've also gotten pizza from Zuppardi's, in West Haven(which is also old, storied, and phenomenal).
Pepe's is most famous for its White Clam pie, made with fresh Rhode Island little neck clams. Don't knock it because most places are too damned lazy to prepare and chop fresh clams on the reg.

The other old famous one is Modern, on State St. in New Haven(not far from the other two).

Really, I can recommend New Haven. It's got three colleges(Yale, New Haven University, and Southern Connecticut State University) crammed into it, tmuseums, shops, a few theaters, tons of restaurants(not just pizza, though the pizza is, of course, amazing), and it didn't suffer urban blight on the same scale as Waterbury or Bridgeport. Plus, there's some good beaches and hiking nearby. If you have to be in Connecticut, it's the place to be.

Sallys only has one location on New Haven, though. Frank Pepes expanded to other areas which is how I heard of it.

Frank Pepes also has regular pizza and tomato pies as well
