I'm sad they deleted the original Solo children just to have Ben by himself

In the books, Han and Leia had 2 sons and a daughter

People bitched about the 'one movie a year' thing but as a casual SW fan, you could easily set up a Star Wars Cinematic Universe. They just went about it in the dumbest way. Use the opportunity to tell different types of stories with different characters across different eras, adapted from the EU. Maybe sometimes tying them in together (but not always). I liked Rogue One a lot but did we really need a Han Solo origin movie?
I thought solo was awesome Good story, super interesting characters, it was actually funny, and that ending was

Im honestly so glad I never put much stock in those old stories. Theres definitely a lot of good material but at the end of the day it really was all just glorified fanfiction. Even as a little kid I thought that.

But its definitely made a lot of people weirdly miserable lol.

This, they are already making Thrawn canon and having him be the big bad Thanos character in the Mandalorian spin-offs

If you have a gangrenous arm, you don't keep it to try to save the thumb.

There was good in the EU, but there was absolutely loads of shit in there. They made the absolute right move just chucking it off a cliff.

And they're still free to hunt and peck it for material, as they've brought Thrawn back into the canon. This is the best of both worlds, they can pick anything decent and bring it back in while utterly ignoring the shit.

---
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Except now Thrawn is being dealt with by a bunch of nobodies and not some of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance/New Republic, because they're busy being complete failures as established by the sequel trilogy

Not sure if sarcastic, but that's honestly what I'm saying. The OT did just that. It was a plucky band of misfits that ended the Galactic Empire.

The Disney movies are the literal definition of fanfiction. The original creator isn't involved in any way at all. Lucas at least gave approval to all the novels before when he owned the franchise. If you asked a ten year old to write a Star Wars movie you would literally get The Force Awakens.

Piss and moan all you want about the Expanded Universe, but even the absolute worst of it is still better then the utter dogshit movies Disney has put out.

He didn't write, direct, or produce them.

My point is your "this stuff that George wasn't involved in is fanfiction" is silly and arbitrary.

He sold the rights to Disney. That's his blessing to say whatever they do as canon, same as Legends EU novels.

Like hate the ST if you want but don't do this weird justification. It's lame.

And they are. They are reintroducing the elements from the EU they like and are even allowing some of the original writers to handle it.

The EU was never completely cannon, at any moment the movies or other official cannon material could disregard an element at any time.
