That honor goes to the Survivalist's Rifle. IMO it's the most versatile and reliable firearm in the game, and from a certain point of view it's literally God's gun. Any time I do a Guns build I prioritize getting it, even though I still force myself to get the Survivalist logs in order for RP purposes instead of just beelining to its location.

Overall I enjoy Energy Weapons builds more (in spite of the damned perma-ash and goo piles), but there isn't a definitive weapon on the Energy side that quite matches the SR (Holorifle comes close, but iirc it can be frustratingly buggy in VATs).

I'm using the MF Hyperbreeder in my current playthrough and holy shit is it broken. Full auto recharger pistol (so infinite ammo) with boosted damage and crit chance. What were they thinking, lol

Patiencia is also sick, but my favorite would have to be the BAR, just sucks you can only get it from Dead Money...

Probably Anti-materiel rifle. Runner-up would be .45 Auto SMG, which would've been my favourite if I hadn't grown into the habit of saving up ammo for that to kill tunnelers.

As for earlier in the game, I enjoy fancy revolvers like Lucky or that one that makes the western guitar sound when you draw or holster it (I forgot the name).

Riot Shotgun with the stay back perk. Hits like a dump truck, has a Fast reload and large clip size. Not to mention rag dolling things all over the place makes every stunnable enemy from Death Claws to Lanius a joke.

I'm loving the grenade launcher right now, it's good at killing just about everything, and 40mm grenades are just common enough that I don't have to feel like it's a waste to use them on small groups of common enemies.

Pew Pew is hilarious in a crit build with the Meltdown perk. Just don't get too close.

Not technically a gun, but Gehenna can dish out a lot of damage with the Pyromaniac and Slayer perks. I'm also using the Cannibal perk, so it's kinda nice to barbecue my food before I eat it.

I almost forgot MFC clusters, by far the best reason to take Mad Bomber. Even though they're technically a placed explosive, you can still chuck them a good distance and they cover a pretty generous area, and best of all if you miss, you can always go collect them and reuse them as MFC grenades.

I had to make a point to not pick that perk anymore after my first play through. So op, going into the quarry and slaying with nothing but a riot shotgun felt dirty
