I think some people were disappointed with it because they expected it to be the next New Vegas

As long as you're not expecting a big open world with endless stuff to do and multiple in-depth quest lines, it's a fantastic game. Characters are entertaining across the board, the world is fleshed out and interesting, the tone is consistent, and the gameplay is basic but slick.

I'd love to see what the team could do with a bigger budget.

Barely any items are worth picking up and there's a billion of them
Companions have the potential to be cool, but they only spent time on Parvati
On (whatever their term for nightmare difficulty is), combat is really tough on the first planet and back to being a walk in the park for the rest of the game
Big ol empty planets with nothing to do and a tiny smattering of environmental storytelling
Exploration and questlines feel extremely linear because if you're not doing a quest in an area, there's nothing there
Extreme focus on CORPORATIONS BAD that doesn't really go anywhere or evolve at all

Good music
Nice graphics
Good voice acting

Yeah, I was mad because the potential was there and it was wasted. And I know they can do it because of FO:NV so it was extra aggravating.

Decent

Looks ok, sounds ok, characters and story are decent, lot of boring side quests, combat is fun, kinda unbalanced, exploration is decent

It's a 6 or 7/10 game. Worth it on sale for 30 or less

The capitalistic society stuff is played extremely well

That guy with the Moon Head being talked into a full existential crisis was one of the greatest conversations in any game I've ever had

Companions are cool and they have unique dialogue depending a bunch of factors like location, situation, what other companion you bring, etc. also special abilities that are a huge bonus

It was good, just not great. I think some people just had their expectations too high.

It's fun but very quick

It honestly feels like a game that ran out of development time/budget

So basically like every obsidian title ever

I didn't finish it but I have a bad habit of just burning myself out on a given game. I'll play like 50-60 hours of it, doing every little sidequest, covering as much exploration as I can, only to find out I really haven't gotten very far and I'm too burnt out to continue

It's fun, I'd get it if I were you

This is exactly what happened to me.

The good: it basically lets you make all of the completely wacky, irrational decisions that most games of this type won't let you. And the consequences of those decisions are as significant as they should be.

The bad: nothing really happens in the grand scheme of things.

I was like this Fallout: New Vegas of all things. I played it so much the night I got it that it was daytime again when I went to bed after stopping, and then I didn't touch it again for months.
