Rewatched it today for the first time in well over a decade and I really enjoyed it. I forgot how much lore was introduced in it, like the flying disk thing and the predator net.

I'd definitely put it over both AvP films and probably Predators. I havent seen The Predator yet but I've heard nothing but bad things lol.

It's for sure nowhere near as bad as the internet would lead one to believe.

I liked it a lot even when it came out. Definitely better than the AvPs though that isnt saying much

It's like you say, def not as bad as people claim. It's NOT a bad movie and has some legit cool things the original doesn't. Just the concept of a Predator hunting in a city is gold, Jerry. Gold!

I liked how this Predator had a sadistic sense of humor with some of the voice simulator lines he'd throw out. ("WANT SOME CANDY") and the scene where he's patching himself up with a field med kit is great.

But, the first time you see that movie the cool parts leave an impression on you and you're like "That was badass!". Upon rewatch, silly stuff like the Rastafarian drug dealer stick out a lot more.

I think part of the reason it gets a bad rap is that it was set in the then future of 1997. The movie itself came out in 1990. So people watching it now lose some nuance on why its so over the top. People thought shit was going to get worse and worse and they portrayed that in the movie.
