I just got to the surface after the whole battle with the giant dude and visiting the base.

The overworld looks really bland and I don't know if I should keep going, especially since i heard there's tons of endings. The battle mechanics and 2B are fun but the mech bullet crap is annoying

Also, is there a recommended way to go through the important endings?

I blasted thru it on easy just for the story. was disappointed by the end of it, but that's what I'd do if you're just going for story.

It's fun to play, if ridiculously easy, and the music is great, but the story is disappointing. There are 5 main endings, and then a bunch of really short bad endings that are mostly for humor. And then one missable ending with regard to a secret boss.

The endings of the game come naturally as you go through the game just keep moving forward and you'll get them all

The important endings are gained by playing the game normally, the other endings are all optional / joke endings IIRC

If you don't like bullet hell then you're really not gonna like the second and third acts of the game.

Depends on you. It's a pretty good game, but is mad overrated by it's fanboys / hipsters. The overworld is mostly bland and there are hardly any notable landmarks, because it's desolate and it's not really fun to explore or that expansive. If you are going to play through the game you're going to have to learn how to tolerate the bullet hell gameplay segments since you're not a fan of that gameplay. There is a recommended way to obtain the endings considering some are missable so make sure to look up a guide. Most are joke endings that take you right back to where you were before you triggered them and only a small few, like 5 or so are actual endings. I say all of this as someone who is kind of a fan of sorts of the series.

I recently played it, got Ending A and B (B was a slog) and stopped about 30 minutes into C to play other games. Honestly on your first playthrough I would say if you aren't captivated by the story by the time you get to the amusement park then the game won't be for you. The combat is the combat, it doesn't really change much other than ground combat and then mech combat.

Why am I doing any of this? Why is there a pair of DBZ villain brothers that act like anime characters when all I've fought to this point are robots? Wtf is this smiling ball? Why am I being forced to play pong all the time when I play as the boy?

Wasn't for me

The gameplay was fun as hell, but I found the story to be very overrated. Great characters, though, and still worth playing through all the main endings.
