I read the article and I feel really bad for Boogie.
The tl;dr is that some other YouTube jerk was stalking him, threatening him, and attacking him online. Boogie then very clearly told him that should he ever feel threatened in his own home that he would pull a gun.
The other guy drove across several states to bang on Boogie's door and try to attack him, so Boogie pulled out a gun and shot the ground to show that he was serious. All of this was recorded by both parties and posted online by both parties.
Boogie is turning himself in tomorrow.

He shot into the air, not the ground. Should have shot straight IMO

I agree. This is a very public case of someone trying to cause mental, emotional, and physical harm and the other person defending themselves.

Oh I read that as a colloquialism and not literal. "He shot the air" to be "shot at nothing." Thanks for the correction!
