The PS4 Pro is damn powerful.

No need to get a PS5 when there's only two games for it. Might as well wait until 2023 when the library is expanded...wait for a slim/pro version!

Yeah, Im in the same boat. I have a ps4 pro and the thing is a work horse. Im gonna keep playing on it until a revised/pro model of the PS5 comes out.
Plus, every base console Ive owned past PS2 has always died on me within 2-3 years.

PS4
And the revised editions of those consoles I bought afterwards have lasted me much longer.

it was outdated when it launched, not even equivalent to a mid-tier laptop from years ago. Doesnt even have an SSD. Can it even push 60 FPS?

same with the ps5. Its not even as good as a mid-range pc from 5 years ago

I feel like I'm probably just going to go gaming PC from here on out, then just keep buying Nintendo consoles too (or not, depending on whether or not they support franchises I actually care about and just keep churning out Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing - even as a fan of the first two) and maybe the occasional Sony console for the exclusives. I see no real reason otherwise to keep buying all the newest consoles. Shit's kind of a waste of money, yo.

The Epic Store exclusive stuff combined with the sharp increase in cost for PC hardware has really soured me on PC gaming honestly. With games on next gen consoles using SSD's and most games having higher framerates (although admittedly that can change) combined with rest mode and Quick Resume means I'll probably be away from PC gaming for quite a while. Doesn't help that Game Pass on PC is also pretty shit and I'm using that quite a lot now.

Although to be fair thanks to BC I traded in my Xbox One X and PS4 which just about covered the cost of one of the two next gen consoles while losing nothing.

This is how I feel. The only advantage is optimization but with Steam kicking ass in that department I dont see much point in ps5 for a long while. ESP with game pass for PC

No idea. Sony is saying PS5 shortages will continue to next year but unlike PC hardware their prices aren't at the mercy of retailers who act like scalpers. Who are raising the price on top of the price increases NVIDIA and AMD have done themselves.

Things were way more affordable 5 years ago. I expected to be able to upgrade my PC which would be overall cheaper than buying new consoles but it hasn't really worked out that way.

it does buy time to jump ship. but it's a night/day difference when it comes to system loadup between the ps4 pro and ps5.
system is hard to find though.

had to be insanely lucky to get past the thousand of buyers online.

Unless youre trying to max out your set up its not hard or expensive to build one. Just the tryhards trying to get the top of the line cpus/Gpus that will be out of fashion within a year and a half

Usually this is the case but even old hardware is expensive and overpriced right now thanks to COVID demand. It's a shitty time.

In Australia right now they're selling the goddamn 2060 for more than the PS5 and Xbox Series X. More than one major PC part retailer is selling the 3070 more than the PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S combined.

I got Ryzen 5 3600 and havent found anything it wont run on max settings yet except for the village, but I also havent really tried it yet. You can spend not much more than I did (250) and get something awesome. The shortage is really just the try hard top of the line stuff. My gpu is several years old as well and does fine, still goes for about twice what my cpu does.
