ACR = 7:01

The C6 ZR1 did it in about 7:19.

The C7 ZR1 never tried it. Came out too late in the model's generation and the new C8 took all its glory/hype. Really kind of a shame.

There is an unofficial time for the C7 ZO6 but it still doesn't beat the ACR.

There's rumblings that the Viper will come back as a performance EV.

That. . . wouldn't suck, honestly. But it'd have to be hooked up to some sort of transmission to get acceleration and top speed numbers.

There were two at the local Chrysler dealership and both were over $100k and they sat on the lot for months as Hellcat Chargers and Challengers got sold daily.

I never understood why car manufacturers compete with themselves. Take one thing and perfect it. Its wasting resources.

I like the idea of the viper, but to actually own one, it's corvette all day. The aftermaket for it is practically infinite and parts are plentiful.

Vipers are a cooler car, but to upgrade you're looking at big bucks, and they're a much more raw experience, so it's less of a daily driver.

Viper

It held title of most powerful US production engine, had a completely new design concept and was actually still affordable.

I do like the new Vettes but I feel like they ripped off a Ferrari 488.

It would absolutely fit. And even the opposite is true, in the monstrous 2011 Challenger Drag Pak, which came with the Viper v10 engine, drag racing tires, and a two speed transmission. It wasn't even street legal.

The new GT is still way down on power for such a fast circuit, and i'm not sure if it can take the fast way around the carousel without bottoming out and trashing the underside.

EDIT: Just checked, the new GT is almost 400lbs heavier than the ACR-X, almost 200ft/lb of torque down, the V6 doesn't have as forgiving a powerband as the V10, so even though the HP rating is about the same, most of it is only available at the top of the powerband whereas the v10 has a more linear band with the power coming on much earlier.

Having driven a C7 and been driven in a Viper, Id take a Vette every time. Vipers are cool af but probably one of the most impractical things Ive ever sat it besides a Countach.

A supercharger is driven off of a belt on the engine like your alternator, turbos use an impeller that is driven off exhaust gasses, so it's basically "free" power whereas a supercharger takes power to run from the engine, so it's parasitic in nature. Superchargers tend to give more low end power, whereas depending on the size of the turbo, the power is generally more up top.

Almost the fastest drag cars are turbo cars, and due to advancements in turbo tech over the past 15-20 years, lag caused by the turbo spooling has been greatly reduced to the point where unless you're running a giant 105mm turbo, it's not a big issue anymore.

EDIT: The main problem with turbochargers is they can be bit more maintenance heavy depending on how aggressive the setup is and it complicates the engine bay (more complicated exhaust manifold, oil feed and return lines, coolant lines if they're not oil cooled, you if you're running big boost, you'll need wastegates pre and post turbo, also extra piping for an intercooler).

Superchargers are more simple because they just sit on top of the engine (not including centrifugal superchargers which are basically just belt driven turbos) and act as the intake manifold

EDIT 2: The whole point of this is to force more air into the combustion chambers, so you can add more fuel and have bigger explosions > more power. The point of adding an intercooler in a turbo setup is to cool the air down further so you can increase the density of the air you're forcing into the engine and make the whole system more efficient. Now, you can add intercoolers in a supercharged setup, but again, they just sit right on top of the engine between it and the supercharger.

if the viper had a dual clutch, it possibly would beat out the ford gt, without it gets beat out in acceleration. The GT will beat it out in 0-60, 0-100, and quarter mile.The GT is also much more aerodynamic and despite the slight loss of power, still has a higher top speed. Again, don't be an insufferable who argues about track times, especially nurburgring track times. It's gross. Beautiful track, hope to drive it one day, absolutely give 0 fucks what cars can do on it.
