I'd rather a desktop but GPUs are hard to come by. Been looking for prebuilts as well but even those are all sold out. I've found a couple of laptops with 3060's in them. They're about $2,000cdn.

I had intended to buy a PS5 but I've had no luck finding one of those at retail price either. Was just considering dumping the $700 from that into a computer instead.

I would be using it with a monitor as well.

What y'all think?

Nope. I've been checking out local shops for prebuilts and places like Best Buy (I know) and Visions. Everyone has fuck all unless you want a 1050 or some garbage like that.

I kinda think a 2060 is a better deal tbh. If it has thunderbolt you can spend money on an external GPU set up later on, if paying an extra $200 for the enclosure isn't an issue

Have you checked places like Shoppers? Shoppers has been known to get random PS5s in every now and then, and some of them will actually let you put your name down for one should one come in.

That said, I'd keep an eye out for a desktop. No need of spending 2 grand on a laptop that requires extra bells and whistles to not boil.

I check Shoppers pretty much every time I'm near one. Call a bunch mid afternoon on Monday and Tuesday (usually about when they get shipments). Closest I've come is about an hour after the last one was sold.

I just need to replace my PS4 Pro before it explodes.

Before you get rid of your PS4, have you replaced the thermal paste, fan and dusted the machine yet? I find that helps a LOT with problems of those machines. I took apart my switch and replaced the paste inside as running Octopath Traveler for some reason was overheating it, and ever since then it hasn't given me any issues with overheating. Only that the shell cracked from me dropping it so many times lol.

The 3050 and 3050ti laptops are coming soon if you don't need as much power

It just sounds like a jet engine. Plus, like yours the shell on the side is broken completely off.

I also mainly play FPS games. I'm currently playing Warzone for the majority of my gaming time and I'm using mouse + keyboard which has massive latency on PS4.

I'm a graphics whore and want power lol. My last pc (which I was forced to leave in China last year) had a 1080 Ti and was waiting for the 3080 to come out. Now I gotta start all over and with less of a budget ($2,500cdn at most).
