Kinda sucks they're only giving her 3 weeks to start working there. Any relocation benefits even? Any idea what state you'd have to move to after cincinnati?

no idea on where would be next. Shes probably only one or two promotions away from getting her own store, which is basically the end goal.

Could be anywhere in the Midwest basically.

theres always a slight chance we could get moved back to Cleveland, or we could end up in Iowa or some shit.

if she couldnt find housing in time, theyd pay for a hotel until she could.

but yeah its like no time at all to make that decision, or plan a move.

She almost needs to take it for her professional advancement.

Like in theory she could go and work a similar job at a different retail store, but it would take years for that store to build the same trust with her. Once she gets slotted into a proper store manager role, her options expand because everyone in her industry knows what that job title entails, but she needs to get there first.

I don't know. I'd say do it, and if I remember, you've had some topics about hitting the ceiling in your current job. Maybe this could be a good opportunity to find something else.

But the temporary nature of this move kinda sucks as well. Did they give any idea how temporary it would be? Like a couple years? Or months?

Two years isnt a long time. You should move and if it sucks, then you can discuss moving back to Cleveland. This seems like a good compromise.

I think Im getting hung up on how quickly it needs to happen. 3 weeks is not enough time for us to sell our house.

we will likely have to pay mortgage and rent for a short time, which would be over 3k a month

Any chance of the two of you living separately for a few weeks, and she can stay in a hotel during that time

Im 30, shes 27. I want to raise kids near family, but weve had a hard time there.

Its not as simple as just move back. Our house would already be sold. Wed have to find something new.

or maybe it is simple, but not easy. You know what I mean.

Ahh kids coming up soon. Ya, that make shit harder.

Rent the house out? That's not easy either though. And not always financially sensible.

I gotta talk to our mortgage company. We were told when we signed the loan that this has to be our primary residence for 7 years.

Its been like 3/4 years now. So I gotta see what our options are there.

renting vs selling, penalties, etc

I say do it. it will be stressful, but you have each other, and that's enough to carry you through. and if it isn't, then you might look at whether this is really the person you want to be with long-term.

The only thing I know for sure is rentals out there average around $2500 per month. Our mortgage is $800.

Thats 30k a year just in rent....

Sounds like you're trying to find any excuse not to move and stay where you're at. Which is fine, but don't bring her down because of it. Let her go if you don't want to move. Y'all can do long distance or break up, up to y'all.

But this is too easy. Move, rent the house out. Next.

If I were you, I would break up with her.
It's not going to be looking good for you in the long run.

That's shitty advice. TC stay with her if you love her, just try to be prepared if things go south in the future.

Her boss is giving her until Monday to make a decision.

7k raise to start, confirmed this would be her last transfer before getting her own store.

2 years minimum

You fool.

If you love her and the relationship is good then move. People sometimes have to relocate. You can still visit your family. Don't be a fool. Ya, fool.

Not sure how the logistics would work, if I join her down there.

her company will pay for hotel until she finds a place to stay.

I think shes gonna have to live down there for a few months alone, while I get everything figured out here

Im not expecting to be living in Cinci on 6/01
