Gender identity is different than gender expression. Someone's gender identity can be one thing and they continue to present differently because it's inconvenient or otherwise impractical to transition, or they just don't want to transition.
I dunno. Like I feel like Im comfortable as a male. How do I know that Im not just going through a phase or if its legit that I feel like Id be happier as a woman. I feel like theres no way I can compare myself to a transwoman at all

That's a good question. I guess it would take some introspection to figure out where one lies in regards to gender.

Let me ask you this: If you were born a girl and got to grow up doing cute girl things, how would you feel about that? Or if you got to be a girl in college and do fun girl things in your 20s, how would that make you feel?

I doubt it, but I'd be lying if I was never interested in being a girl for just a day, but I don't think many women are seen as a person who's 6'6", 400+ lbs, indented and red acne scarring, and a Viking-like beard.

I getcha. So if you weren't 6'6, 400+ lbs, have acne scarring, and a viking like beard, then you would think about being a girl more often?

I really like what testosterone has afforded me, tbh. Being big and strong is convenient, but the presentation of being big and strong is social superpowers. Anyone else in my position has surely seen it in social scenarios. You get so much less shit than your smaller peers.

Not exactly. I don't really think about my gender, it's just I am male and have no problem with it. I also have a unisex but predominately male given name which doesn't bother me. I like my beard, my blacked-out hot hatch, pop culture T-Shirt and work in a male-dominated field. That's not to say I wouldn't be interested in putting my hair and beard in pigtails and wear makeup and jeggings, but I don't really think it's for me, even if I haven't destroyed my body.

I don't know if I would be happier to be honest.

Though I often wonder if I was born a different gender if I would still be a bisexual or if I would be straight.

Guess I'll never know.

I think I would have been unshackled from a lot of rhetoric, standards and discourse that's caused me a great deal of pain, but in return there would be a whole other set of rhetoric, standards and discourse that affect how people treat me. It's nice to think that being born another gender might have helped me to circumvent aspects of my life that have negatively affected my growth and happiness, but I think that realistically, I would probably face other problems as the other gender that could very well lead to a similar state of being.

I think I would appreciate certain aspects of the other gender more, but they come with caveats that I genuinely feel lucky not to have to go through. It's definitely possible that I would be happier had I been born as the opposite gender, but the grass isn't always greener and I think the struggles that have shaped my life wouldn't be that much different had I been born a woman.

I don't really want to talk about it tbh. Basic thoughts are that it's a nice fantasy, but there are aspects to being a guy - biological and societal aspects - that make it easier to live freely with less chance of risk, and I don't know if the caveats that women face like menstruation, more direct gendered criticism and pressure to look good all the time would be a better trade-off that could leave me with a better life.

I feel like I have a lot of traits that are prominent in the opposite sex, but I don't know that is the cause of my pain in life.
