BLOGFAQS TIME (apologies as writing has never been my forte)

WHY I MADE THIS TOPIC?
When I see all these old accounts getting banned and those users have crazy melties over it, I used to think those people were severely unhinged (and I'm probably right most of the time). However, when I realized I was coming up on ? BLOCK status, I was like "DAMN, I've had an account there for a long ass time!" Now, I knew this was the site I most frequented on average throughout the years, but as I started to estimate how much time I've actually spent on the site, I realized just how much Gamefaqs has been a part of my life.

My Gamefaqs Early Years
Now, I've always been a gamer since a young child. I would go to my grandparents bowling league every Friday night and spend my whole time in the Arcade in the alley playing games. Now my first console, was Nintendo and as soon as I got one, I was a videogame addict.

Fast forward a few years to Playstation 1. I was playing my first RPG (Final Fantasy 7) and was I stuck somewhere in game and didn't know what to do next. This was like 1997 or 1998 and the only thing I knew how to do on the internet was sign in to AIM and IM (what I hope are girls) A/S/L?. However, I YAHOO! commercials were very common for the time and that's how I learned you can search for stuff on the interwebs. So I use the YAHOO! search engine and it leads me to Gamefaqs and the guides were like finding the holy grail for me (at the time)!

Side note: I got in SOOOO much trouble from my mom as I used to waste soooooo much paper printing out WHOLE guides for games such as FF7, FF8, and XENOGEARS because our computer was upstairs and my consoles were downstairs and was too lazy to go back and forth to see if I don't miss anything lol

Discovering Message Boards and Making an Account
Ever since I discovered this site, I utilized the guides for all non sports games since. When pokemon Red/Blue came out and it was known there would be limitations on what pokemon was available depending on which you buy, as many others, I needed opinions on which one to get. Thus, I located the message boards section of this site lol. I remember back then there wasn't even a search function for the boards so you would have to scroll to find the topic you wanted haha.

Now it wasn't until a couple/few years later when I discovered the special interest boards and how there were limitations (user level) to visit some. So I finally decided to create my first account. When that account was finally old enough to join CE, there was a "POST PORN DAY" or something along those lines where everyone would posted porn sites (myself included) and were of course, banned (I was young and dumb and didn't realize how much Gamefaqs would be a part of my life. So of course, I ended up creating this account back in 2007 (can't remember how long after my previous account).

To this Day
I'm 36 now and have a 3 (going on 4 this year) son and still visit this site EVERYDAY (god damn)! While my primary use of this site now is to visit special interest boards (CE, NBAB, etc.), I still use it as originally intended for games I am either stuck or want to 100% (not sure and don't care if other sites may do it better now, but I like what I like).

Gamefaqs has been my ONLY source of Social Media content in the last 5 years (I have a Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat account but haven't used in at least 5 years). I still use this site to find upcoming games and shows/movies I may be interested in (I'll admit the latter I do use reddit for the actual discussion of show/movie). I still click on all Duckbear topic to see if I'm going to find the heffer cute,hot, or ugly. I still enjoy reading some of TERRIBLE takes/arguments folks have on topics with my popcorn lol.

Conclusion (TLDR)
I've never been a big poster, but I would weigh in an opinion here or there (and admit when I'm wrong) or ask a question if I wanted answer and not sure what compelled me to type out such a long post. I came to the realization that this site has been a HUGE part of my life which I generally enjoy visiting (and thought I'd share). Now I don't think I would ever do anything to get banned, but I know I would be bummed AF if I ever did (for sure no melty tho lol).
