I don't understand your question.

Are you listening to songs that are just raised or lowered a semi-tone value, or are you discussing music that doesn't follow equal temperament and instead uses another temperament (such as Just or Pythagorean)?

If that's the same as raising/lowering a song's pitch by a set amount, then yes; I've gone through spurts where I do it a lot (my computer's soundcard software makes it easy).

I've even started a list of songs that I think sound good when raised or lowered.

'with the semitones changed' is too vague of a statement. Which semitones...all of them? You mean that you pitch-shifted the songs? You modulated the key of the song? You tone-shifted some/all of your music?

As a musician, I am assuming that -12 to 12 is the scope, so if you're setting things to that, you're simply octave-shifting.

I think I can tell what you're talking about, but I don't think you actually know how to talk about it well.

I've done that so I don't need to retune my guitar to play along.
of course, if you listen to live music, a lot of the time they use a lower key to make it easier on the singer's voice singing at the top of their range day after day.
