"Gathering Information" is such a generic abstract term but it's apparently a professional term for devs and dbas. Fucking dumb ass hail, man.

It's not called Pass Privilege. The term you're looking for is Grant Select

If you want to be technical about it, that only grants read only access. Just saying grant would be a more generalized way to describe the terminology for passing privilege.

Also, gathering all the information you can to fully understand the requirements of the DBMS is of vital importance.
