TL:DW- 2022 is when well see the chip shortage begin to catch up, but it'll be years until chip manufacturers can boost production

What card are you using right now? Any chance you could stretch it out for a little while longer? Things will get better, and if your current hardware is working, try to put up with it for a little bit more until you can find a card at MSRP.

Put a temporary ban on superfluous smart devices like smart fridges.

I am not joking btw. Free them up for Infrastructure, medical devices and most importantly Video games.

You cant extend something that was happening anyway. There is more demand than capacity to build chips. The new factories being built won't be ready until 2022. So, unless demand drops there is only one possibility.
