Do you agree with Ellison?

Progressive Activist turned lead prosecutor in one of America's most notorious criminal cases in history of Derek Chauvin made a shocking revelation in a 60 minutes interview today when he said though he felt "gratitude, humility" by the guilty verdict, he also had SYMPATHY for Chauvin!!

He said "I will admit, i felt a little bad for the defendant. I think he deserved to be convicted. But he's a human being"

He said his 16 years as a defense attorney led him to try to feel compassion for defendants and said "I'm not in any way wavering from my responsibility. But i hope we never forget that people who are defendants in our criminal justice system, that they're human beings. They're people. I mean, George Floyd was a human being. And so i'm not going to ever forget that everybody in this process is a person"

Chauvin was found guilty of second degree unintentionally murder, 3rd degree murder and second degree murder which faces up to a maximum 40 years in the big house but a minimum 12.5 when he's sentenced on June 16

When asked for an appropriate sentence however, Ellison said he DOESN'T want to see a heavy sentence on Chauvin and said it's important the courts go LIGHT on him as he doesn't know how if it's right for a judge to send a message through a sentence because it should be tailored to an offense.

He said "Look, the state never wanted revenge against Derek Chauvin. We just wanted accountability"

He also told CBS' flagship current affairs show there's no evidence that this was a racist hate crime because it involves explicit motive and bias

Ellison is a former congressman elected as state AG in 2019 and he didn't feel certain of securing a conviction until the jury returned a verdict as he remembers what happened in the Rodney King case when the officers were acquitted for their crimes

He said without footage however he wasn't sure if they could convict as the footage was what helped them win the case.

In the end, he is happy about the guilty verdict but wants Chauvin to receive a lighter sentence then what most are asking for as he wants him to find COUNSELLING in prison..

Do you agree with Ellison?

Is surgical spine removal a requirement for membership in the Democratic Party?

WTF is wrong with him?! Fuck no, Chauvin doesn't deserve a light sentence! You want the sentence to match the crime? Sure thing, boss! He was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter. Those aren't charges that carry "light" sentences.

Fuck off, Keith.

Also, what a weird hill to die on. He could've just kept his idiotic mouth shut. Instead he says this, which really shouldn't have any bearing on the actual sentencing (or if the prosecution does try to intervene and request less than the usual sentencing guidelines it's just a flat out scandal), and basically kill any hope of being elected to anything as a Democrat ever again, and I doubt the Republicans would take him, either.

I might have SOME sympathy for him if I became aware of him seeming to have genuine remorse for what he did, because he undeniably at the very least completely disregarded the life of another person and was terribly abusive toward them before ending their life. So even in the best light he accidentally murdered someone through malicious negligence of both his on the job responsibility and just basic human compassion for another human being.

But as far as I know his defense has been that he did nothing wrong and that it wasnt his fault Floyd died, which is just blatantly false. As far as I can tell he simply murdered a man because he thought there was no way in hell he would actually be held accountable because that is overwhelmingly what usually happens in these cases. Everyone knows it.

So thankfully he is being held accountable. So no I feel no sympathy towards him and I hope he gets the maximum sentence possible for what he did.
