I'm looking into writing once again, but I'm having an issue. Beyond just being overly critical of my own work, of course.
For some reason, I can't think of a way to establish a setting in a creative way that isn't just an exposition dump through a block of text explaining the world at the beginning or exposition from a character's conversation. What are some creative ways to get around this, CE? --- "And no I'm not signing your twitter after this type of attitude so don't ask..." - IIINCORRUPTIBLE ... Copied to Clipboard!

Drop bits and pieces through dialogue, interactions with others, and interactions with the world.
I'm not a professional writer tho, I just do it as a hobby and don't really do anything with it, least of all world building --- 'I saw my future today. I like writing for the hell of it, but getting a good idea of what works might set my mind at ease. --- "And no I'm not signing your twitter after this type of attitude so don't ask..." - IIINCORRUPTIBLE ... I always establish a character and build up the world around them based on their interactions with others (but I am also not at all a fantasy writer, so Im not trying to set up grand worlds either)
