from what I saw he got a ride after his car broke down, cop dropped him off. Went back due to a 911 call and on the call he said he wanted a gun and was gonna kill his brother. Dispatcher said no dont kill your brother and he said alright you need to get here. They say in the news clip he later told the 911 operator he didnt have a gun.

cop pulled up thinking he had a gun to his head, which was him on the phone talking to 911, he told him to drop the gun which he didnt have and he got shot 10 times.

Hard to see much of anything in the video, but seems pretty open and shut horrible decision making on the cop's part. The dude with the phone would have had to have been making really weird gestures with the phone to reasonably make the cop think he was a danger to him, and it makes even less sense if he was just talking on the phone.

Yea. If the cop thought he was gonna shoot himself then demanding he drop the gun or risk getting shot doesnt seem like the right move. Why are cops so stupid?

Somebody pointing a gun at themselves is literally the only "somebody is pointing a gun" situation in which shooting the person cannot possibly be the correct call.

I'm assuming that he fired when the man lowered the "gun" from his head to chest level. Suicide by cop is a thing. So the officer probably thought the guy decided to go out by cop instead of shooting himself in the head. The question is, how did the deputy end up reading the situation so wrong?

It's not that idiotic. 911 told the officer he had a gun and was threatening to kill people. The officer shows up, it's dark, he has something in his hand, he refuses to comply, and keeps moving forward. It's not hard to see why the mistake happened.

I also feel like this might be misleading. Maybe I'm wrong, but I counted 6 shots and a dry fire. I'm assuming the officer had a 9mm that held 6 rounds and he emptied the clip. So the hospital must be counting entry and exit wounds. Which is fair, I guess. But the officer didn't put 10 bullets in him. I mean, judging by that dry fire pull he would have put 10 bullets in him, but he ran out. No point here, really. Just thought it was worth mentioning for the details.

How do they not communicate to the officer that hes on the phone with them?

One would also assume he lowered his hand at some point but idk. When I used to watch Cops and Live PD cops would take cover behind things before just openly shooting. Does this not exist anymore? Just run out like Rambo?

It honestly seems like it dude. Could also just be that we are actually filming how policing is done nowadays. Unfortunately turns out they have been abusing their power too much. So when a real reason for them shooting someone come sup, it is sus.

Suicide by cop does happen, but I highly doubt a suicide by cop is done when the suspect is holding a gun to their own head. This is like if someone was gonna suicide by jumping off a bridge and the cops that showed up yelled "step bac from the edge! Step back! Shoot em!" It just make absolutely no sense.

Okay, doubt the police was notified by dispatch about. There being no gun. Or he simply ignored the situation at hand for whatever reason.

I highly doubt the officer thought the man had a gun to his head. And even if he did. Shooting him makes zero sense. Hope the officer loses his job.

Give yourself time and space, get cover, etc.

With more space, theres less onus on making that life or death decision so quickly.
