I understand the appeal behind the campy dub, but certain scenes just don't hit as hard for me because of it. For example, it feels like the scene after the divine sandstorm just doesn't have the same tone

I'm pretty sure the whole point of the Nazi stuff was so you wouldn't feel about watching people get butchered by half-naked Aztec vampires. Well, that's what I choose to believe anyway, good stuff. Especially the squirrel scene, if you know it you know it. Try and give Part 2 another chance teep, it's a really fun arc.

This. I thought it was weird at first, but you gotta disconnect yourself from reality for the sake of the show. Especially cuz like, in the context of the story, early on in WW2, the true extent of just how evil Germany was wasn't fully understood yet.

Even so, the Nazis are still portrayed as villains and are the reason the pillar men are able to escape in the first place.

I also echo what others have said and its also made very clear they are not good people. One guy gets fan service because spoilers but even then its still made abundantly clear hes not a good person

Stroheim is an interesting character because Araki introduces him in a scene in which he does something objectively horrible, but then paints him in a more likable light throughout the story, as weird as that is. I honestly see him as more of a parody of the Nazis.

I cant because dont know what they sound like because I watched it sub and only know the British ones from clips, but you were watching the dub for over the top accents.

Oh, is teep actually German? I don't really keep up with CEpeople's lives outside of this board so I never realized. I can understand why seeing Nazis depicted in something as campy and irreverent as JoJo might strike a nerve then. Admittedly I don't actually remember much about how they were depicted after Stroheim's introduction, I mostly just remember that some of my favorite scenes from Part 2 involve Nazis being slaughtered by half-naked Aztec vampires. I don't remember how much of Part 2 they were even present for tbh.

JoJo has a decent accent in part 2 (Johnny Yong Bosch ftw) but the Nazi accents are atrocious

when does Wendee Lee's character appear? (I don't remember the episode number, but Strohheim just killed himself after telling JoJo to go to Europe)

apparently Lotus Juice worked on the soundtrack?

JYB voiced Jonathan. This JoJo is Ben Diskin, and yeah his British accent is fantastic. (He's Numbah 1 from Kids Next Door)

I cant stand Bryce Papenbrook. Nothing against the guy personally, but hes just so awful in everything hes in. Hes one of the main reasons the dub for AoT is just horrendous

He does have some roles under his belt that I actually really like though. >_> Like:

Masaomi Kida (Durarara)
Henry (Fire Emblem: Awakening)
Makoto Naegi and Nagito Komaeda (Danganronpa series)
Kamui (Fire Emblem Echoes)
Oscar (Fire Emblem Heroes)

And...that's about it actually. Most of his more notable roles are shows I have absolutely no interest in. And I still hate what he did to my boy Inosuke though, it only took literal seconds for me to lose all hype I had for Demon Slayer's dub. >_>

Mainly because he's actually doing a voice that isn't just "himself," like in all the other roles I've heard him in.

Caesar's voice is fine, but his Italian accent honestly sounds way more Latino/Spanish than it ever sounds Italian lol.

Golden Wind meanwhile, there's actually a few dub accents in there that sound pretty good.

I wouldn't say nothing, they're still not allowed to include all the music references. It's fine for the most part up to part 2 (maybe 3), but it gets super weird later on.

Yeah. All of the Engrish jokes are completely lost in the dub. You miss such classics like

And I mean yeah all of those lines are still in the dub but they kinda lose their impact when everything else is in English as well

You're not wrong, except for OH MY GOOOOD. Richard Epcar does a great performance in the dub. And even if it isn't as zany as hearing a Japanese VA saying it, his grovelly, exaggerated voice makes it just as good if not better IMO.
