Is this a law targeting drive-through restaurants or something? We have a BK in my town that closed because of those restrictions. It also hurt a lot of small coffee shops (Starbucks is, of course, fine).

Im all in favor of cutting vehicle emissions, but this is a lazy effort that did more harm than good. If you want to cut emissions, ban massive SUVs and only let people have big trucks for work. Thats literally the main reason that our ozone layer is no longer there.

Fox News is so beyond ridiculous. You know all of the heavy breathing fat assed watchers took right to Facebook with their "First our guns, now our burgers!" posts and there is outrage ensuing. Maybe some of these obese mutants would start actually eating healthier instead of eating this garbage constantly.

lives are being destroyed on what you can and can't do or say. And it's both sides really and none of these people will take responsibility for it when it matters either. The whole perfectionist mantra too that is out there. It's meaningless when people do bad things either way. So many people don't go out of their own way either because they are afraid to. I doubt this is even real.

Apparently that news story is based on this article, which links to a university study, which just sort of blindly guesses at how the country could reach biden's emissions reduction target by 2030 target.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9501565/How-Bidens-climate-plan-affect-everyday-Americans.html
Americans may have to cut their red meat consumption by a whopping 90 percent and cut their consumption of other animal based foods in half.

Gradually making those changes by 2030 could see diet-related greenhouse gas emissions reduced by 50 percent, according to a study by Michigan University's Center for Sustainable Systems.

To do that, it would require Americans to only consume about four pounds of red meat per year, or 0.18 ounces per day.

It equates to consuming roughly one average sized burger per month.

It's a ridiculous what if, but it is touching on a very real concern which is that the target he is setting is practically impossible without some pretty drastic changes to the country, but we won't know what those are until the details of the plan are released.

Easily one of the largest GHG emitters is Animal Agriculture (especially when you include non-CO2 gases like Methane) so this would do a huge amount.

Also None of those things are "because of this law" and nothing Biden is ever going to do is going to limit the amount of burgers you can eat.

Theres some kind of local environmental regulation that basically puts a punitive tax on any business with a drive-through. The only places that survived are corporate giants like McDondalds and Starbucks.

The general idea was to dissuade people from sitting in an idling car, but the end result was small businesses getting shut down and people losing their jobs. It also resulted in corporate businesses making more profit.

THe thing is liberals are actually correct in ways that the over commercialization of things is ridiculous. But they are completely wrong in others. Healthcare and the over contamination that is going on there is a huge issue and we'll see about that. They will probably fund healthcare more. Whether they will make it better we will see.

You can get the same quality of trash food at any gas station for less money, most of them have a microwave where you can prepare it there. Grocery stores have premade salads and all kinds of meals, again, for cheaper than a drive through meal. If you are really hard up, Dollar Tree stores have a big frozen section with burgers, egg rolls, burritos, banquet microwave dinners. Options are available, a lot of them offer curbside. Drive-thru fast food isn't the only available option out there for a quick junk food meal.

Half the issue is a lot people can't even move now because of all the nonsense that is being force fed and a lot of that is on "liberals" as well. It's the capitalistic nonsense. It's the over commercialization of everything. And people work in these places.

There are too many fast food restaurants period. And people work there. Hospitals are also big glowing metropolises. The whole biotech industry. I basically live in a city where it's nothing but that. There are other places that are starting to crop up and smaller businesses. Worcester Ma has got to be one of the worst places that way that is still functioning. You see it in the people too. It has very underlying republican undertones too. I really don't like it. I grew up in a very liberal place that was beautiful but getting back to that is not really happening. The prices just go up and up and up. Worcester is just expanding and becoming more populous outside of boston and the prices just go up.

Worcester Ma is an old tired blue collar city with liberal politics and very republican undertones. It's mostly liberal is the thing but it's also not. It's been here for a long time through hard work. And you pay for it. It's still thriving which is amazing in it's own way. But it's through very hard work. It has very good air quality too because it's surrounded by trees.

Good on you tbh! What general advice do you have for someone trying to not use animal products?

@CalypsoDoom
thanks! Get creative! I make a chili using beyond meat with taco seasoning with 3 kinds of beans, any kind works, I use black, kidney, and vegetarian bbq beans. I just let the cook all day and it that throughout the week.

I also make pancakes just using oats and bananas with some chocolate powder from Flavor God.

definitely research before you start otherwise thats how you fall off the wagon and go back to meat products. Good luck!
