Current Events > Scenario: Your girlfriend made you a home cooked meal but it was awful.

You've had a really rough tiring day at work and are in an awful mood.

When you get home your girlfriend senses your frustration, kisses your forehead and says "Aww honey, let me cheer you up with a hot meal."

She then cooks you a meal that visually looks amazing, she clearly put a lot of effort into it but when you actually try it, you realize it tastes disgusting.

You actually feel worse after eating it than you did when you got home. It's that bad.

"Just like daddy used to make. Mine's not as good as his was but I thought the lamb came out superb." your girlfriend coos.

You thought the lamb was the cheese.

"It always makes me think of him. Did you like it?" she asks earnestly



You also realize that she probably expects you to wash up since she cooked.

Inverse to boyfriend if that way inclined.

I honestly wouldn't mind considering some of the sludge I've had to eat at one point just to survive. And it's been a long time since anyone's cared enough to put in the effort, even if it turns out horrible.

My ex was a terrible cook. I told her so numerous times. She half-assed the entire cooking process and her culinary skills were a step down from basic. Even worse, she was vegan so I usually cooked all the meals.

The woman in the first post is an absolute fox but I wouldn't let her slide. If your cooking is garbage but you at least tried to make a good meal, I'd stomach it. If she didn't even really try and wasted ingredients making trash, I'd be vocal about it.

Tell her that the dedication she had to make it was amazing but the finished product did not turn out as well as she hoped but the effort is what mattered. I would also let her try it to see if she can see where things went wrong.

I screwed up on a dinner once but got it right the second time after it was nicely pointed out where I made a mistake.

I have an absolute meltdown.

I start wildly kicking and flailing at the table, screaming "BRUUUUUU!!!!!" over and over. Then i start dragging my face across the table, knocking everything on the floor.

I do this for hours.

I have absolutely told my wife that something she made wasn't very good. Mostly for selfish reasons in that I don't want to have it again, but also because I don't want to lie to her. Other times I'll make suggestions if it was only slightly off like suggesting it cook a bit longer or add a little more seasoning.
