Thinking about it and it seems pretty weird to me that I've been on some kind of antidepressant (mostly the same one) for nearly 20 years. I'm still depressed but whenever I've gone off them I've gone straight to being suicidal after tapering down.

Don't know if this is at all normal

I was on effexor for 17 years and switched to a new med 5 months ago. I was the same way when I would try to stop. I don't know if it's normal but you aren't the only. I feel much better on my new meds though.

That's the same one I've been on for most of the last 18 years. I'm not sure if I could go through the process of coming off again

I'm the same way. I had prozac pushed on me since the third grade. I now take generic paxil. I wonder if it ever helped, or merely makes me reliant on a substance. It's not like I don't have actual problems to make me depressed since birth.

My doctor had me switch to duloxetine because my effexor wasn't working anymore. Duloxetine is in the same family as effexor so the withdrawal wasn't bad. I dont think I would have had any withdrawls if they started me on a higher dose. I went from 300mg of effexor a day to 30mg of duloxetine.

I've taken Wellbutrin for some time - but stopped because I just didn't feel any significant change as a result.
