First off, the title is likely badly worded.

Anyway, wife and I just got our second dose of covid vaccine.

What protections against covid does this vaccine have? I assume it protects against several mutations but not all of them?

Does the vaccine make it so you also don't carry the virus, or does it just make it so you don't have an adverse reaction to it?

If you went to an event such as an orgy with only vaccinated individuals, would you need to wear a mask and practice social distancing?

Generally speaking, most or all of the available vaccines offer at least some protection against variants. There's relatively little data on that so far (the variants emerged around the same time as the vaccines hit the market, so they weren't covered in the testing process), so it's not completely certain one way or the other. If you want a clearer answer, you'll have to try and stay on top of current research regarding the vaccine you got.

The only certainties are that it protects against infections and reduces the severity of whatever infections do get through. The jury's still out on whether or not it reduces transmission, though I believe there's some recent literature concluding that one of the earlier ones (either Pfizer or Moderna) is effective for that as well.

Technically, no, although there might exist the risk of transmitting it to other people even if you yourself are not infected. However, determining that everyone present has been vaccinated isn't the easiest thing to do, particularly where it's pretty easy to lie about that, so masks/distancing remain a more reliable, verifiable option. As a result, public health will continue to recommend masks/distancing and to avoid such events, and local regulations may reflect that. Check what they say before trying, and if you do decide to take the risk, make sure it's all people you know and trust not to lie about being vaccinated.

Youre much less likely of getting covid and if you do get covid your symptoms will be far more mild and less damaging to your lungs. If you catch the virus after developing the antibodies from the vaccine your chance to infect others drops to nearly 0%

You're less likely to get a severe infection or die from it, the recently cancelled J&J also protected against nasty Covid strains that are in Africa and parts of Europe.
