i always think its weird they say that drano can eat away at your metal pipes and ruin your plumbing

when it sits in a plastic bottle doing nothing for months.

It's not a scam, but they don't do a great job at unclogging either. Most of the clogs can be easily fixed myself, and I'm not even a "fixer-upper" type of person.

makes more sense to use a snake or just take the u-bend, where most clogs happen, off and clean it out manually.

how do you handle your clogs? right now my kitchen is all blocked up. i tried drano, albeit it was a little amount and nothing. i also tried plunging, and lastly i used my shop vac. all nothing.

The best thing I've found is a long plastic snake thing with barbs on the sides. Costs about 3 bucks and works wonders.

I usually just stick one of those long crazy straws down the drain and suck the clog out

but drano works too

It works for buildup clogs. But its no good if you have an object stuck down there.

In my experience you have to use half of the container. Using a small amount does very little for dissolving clogs.

Haven't you even seen Breaking Bad? It's polyurethane not plastic, and you can store all kinds of things in it, including hydrochloric acid, without it burning through the material. It's entirely resistant to many highly corrosive liquids and chemicals.
