I've done that before yeah. A lot of the time I will lower the music because the sound effects are more important for gameplay.

I do that for Fall Guys and Rocket League. Listening to my own music is how I can play them longer without moving on.

Not exactly the same, but I had to turn off the music in HITMAN 2016 because I thought it was just that annoying.

I turn it off on most games. Most of the time the music is just generic, but the biggest reason why is because I'm usually watching/listening to something while gaming and the music distracts me.

I'd keep HM's music on if it was Jesper Kyd still doing the score. The music is just so generic now.

Audio cues ruin horror moments imo. I don't want to know Im in a dangerous area until danger is actually there. It makes for a much better experience.

I don't often turn music off but I did this is Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2. much better experience

I turn the sfx down far more often. (Though very rarely do I mute either one)

I've turned off the music in I am Setsuna halfway through it because it was just not good for a video game.

I've done it before but never for immersion. I do it when it's a game I've already played a lot that I've heard all the music already and then I'll turn off the music to play a stream or a podcast or a whatever on the side. I'll leave sound effects on though since they're not constant and have actual direct gameplay / gamefeel applications

At one point, I got tired of the in-ring music in WWF No Mercy and turned it off. Now, I don't play it often enough for the music to grow tiresome.

I do that with gacha games, although as I've recently discovered, even those have some bangers in there.
