ORLANDO, Fla. - We all know how busy Florida roads can get, but apparently, they're also very dangerous.
According to a new study by Teletrac Navman, Interstate 4 between Tampa and Daytona Beach is the deadliest road in America.

The study says it averages more than one fatality per mile. Between 2016 and 2019, 150 people were killed in collisions along that stretch of interstate.

This is the second time it has earned the dubious distinction. A section of U.S. 192 between Four Corners and Indialantic came in at number 3 on the list.

Why the hell is I-4 on the east coast entirely in Florida while I-5 runs the entire length of the west coast from Canada to Mexico

Okay yeah I fucked it up and forgot how it works, the North-South routes start low and get larger from West -> East while the East-West routes start low and generally larger from Southeast -> Northwest (except Interstate 2 is in Texas...?)

The bigger question is, why is does "Interstate" 4 not run in more than one state?
Because the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico .

I just got my license last year and still haven't gotten on the highway yet because I'm terrified of it. >_>

Want to do so for the first time real soon though.

I knew I was on to something when I said that Florida drivers are fucking terrible though.
Interstate driving is the easiest driving, tbh. Keep your distance and just go forward until you reach your exit.

I mean it is kind of laughable that I-4 and I-94 have the same designation >_>

Based on my experiences on I-4, a lot of its problems at least around Orlando are tourists not knowing where they're going and making last second lane changes.

Florida is the state known for old people and partying college students. Makes sense that it's not safe for driving.

This, the hardest part is getting onto the highway, but after that it's smooth sailing. I get being afraid of it, though. I didn't get my license until I was 18 since driving is rather intimidating at first.

I give Florida tags extra space when I see them on the road (not like Georgia and especially South Carolina drivers are much better) but man Florida produces some very interesting drivers.

Florida drivers are absolutely the worst in the country, and I think I've narrowed down why:

Old people
Tourists
The crazies that Florida somehow attracts (Florida man), I think are more likely to thrill seek or drive drunk/high than other places

Now add in the high population density in certain parts, and it's just a shit show.

Some of ya'll haven't driven in states where other drives are actively trying to kill you with their negligence

Hell yea. Literally two to three weeks ago someone got into an accident and drove off I-4 overpass into Kaley Ave.

EDIT: Couple months ago actually.
