Sgt Pepper was probably the first or second LP I actively purchased when I got a new turntable.
Thriller was the other one, by the way.

I think they were often hit or miss but Rubber Soul and Revolver are two amazing albums, it really does fascinate me that they came out when they did. They certainly werent the only artists doing what they were doing at the time but they were by far the most notable group during the time when audio production really started to become its own defined art, especially considering that they had so much money behind them that there were actually studio innovations being made for the demands of what and how they wanted to record.

Really one of the greatest bands of all time

  • a boy band made for kids and teens with culture, lore, and personality?
  • constant personal and musical growth and a complete rejection of their OWN image.. in the 60s?!
  • 4 separate careers that took off after they split
  • lots of musical firsts in the production side of how a studio was to be used to record the music
  • musicians that wrote and played their own music?!
  • beautiful music with so much variation that theres bound to be something for everyone

As a musician theyre just a treasure trove of thought in every possible philosophy of how to approach the creation of music. Nowadays theres a lot of music where theres one driving force or one really cool part or one musician really driving the charge at different points in the music.. The Beatles just worked as a complete unit to make stuff happen regardless of how much actual input was there (sorry George )

Imagine being there in the world, a place with no internet and none of the smart edge /wit (which btw you have The Beatles to thank for) found in popular culture just to have Here Comes The Sun or Everybodys Got Something To Hide come through the speakers

They say magic isnt real - I beg to differ tbh
