This was triggered by the RE4 for Quest 2 announcement.

From the outside looking in, seeing this and a bunch of other games signing exclusivity deals for specific hardware seems like it's doing more harm then good. With the regular games industry, it's healthy in general, there's no need to actual get people INTO gaming that aren't there already for the most part. VR is still struggling though, right? I feel like all these exclusivity deals are doing are driving people like me to hold off on buying anything, because one day a game I want might not be available, and also they do revisions so often that my tech may becoke obsolete 3 or 4 times faster than console hardware does. Am I completely off base, partially right, or is this a common sentiment?

Also I think the takeaway I'm the most confident in is that early adopters of the medium were just totally robbed, right? All that shit is just expensive trash at this point.

This is actually part of my obsolescence issue I mentioned, unless they're just horrible at marketing and naming and this isn't an actual issue.

The Quest came out early 2019. Resident Evil 4 is exclusive to the Quest 2.

VR is relatively healthy. Enough that Sony is doing a 2nd PSVR

The technology needs to go full wireless though before it can really be ready for the mainstream
