In all those wrongful police shootings and the millions of dollar payout to families after their loved ones were killed, you would think they want to do better cause its never cheap. Sure their officers will get a slap on the wrist to protect them from prison but do they really not want to train better officers after all those millions they had to pay out or even fire the bad ones who have had a bad history?

That is also tax payers money too and that money will eat into their budgets having to pay out victim families.

Payouts have become a significant part of the police budget. It was one of the really good points brought up by "defund the police". It essentially gives them free reign to do whatever they want without consequence because they're funded for it. Most people woukd argue that the money was not intended for such things.
