Is it just because of Mia's death? What was he hoping to accomplish? He couldn't have possibly believed he'd run into Dahlia again by following Phoenix around.

My bad. Thought it was X-Men related, but doesn't seem to be.

Yes

He made that pretty clear in the final case. He was mad at Phoenix for 'letting it happen', so to speak.

I mean it just feels kind of petty to me especially since Maya didn't seem to blame Phoenix at all.

Mia was Godot's girl

Godot got poisoned so he couldn't protect her

Phoenix became the closest man to her so in Godot's view it fell on Phoenix to protect her

Instead Mia got killed in her own office with Phoenix very close by

So to Godot, Phoenix failed as a man. And maybe Godot can reclaim a little of his own lost pride by defeating Phoenix and proving him weak.

It just seems like an all around terrible motivation to spend what's essentially the last few remaining weeks of your life over trying to humiliate a guy because his girlfriend died even though the girlfriend literally talks through her sister and is generally okay with what happened.

Godot himself admitted that his hatred was irrational.
But his hatred was so irrational he tried to have an innocent person convicted of murder when he knew the truth the whole time and had no reason to even hide it.

Seems like that's pretty much everything Mia despised about prosecutors.
