Hmm... they've been doing this for over a decade; I don't think they've ever put something IN the brain, but they've hooked monkeys up and made them play games, then they remove the actual controller functionality and use just his brain waves/neurons to play the game. The monkey never knew the difference and that the controller didn't work; it was only his mind at that point.

That and the channel density of the probes. But it's not really impressive in terms of BCI stuff. You can do this easily with external EEG signal even. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ...
