I'm not sure who the guy is, I dont follow many YT people, but the video was entertaining. Also disappointed that he didn't go into a technique. Closed out at the Squarespace ad. Maybe I'll buy an Aeropress now. I'm bored of my french press.

Aeropress makes better coffee than a FP, IMO, and is easier to use. the cleanup is so easy.

whenever he posts his technique video i'll try to remember to share it here.

Had my aeropress a couple weeks now, it's a great bit of kit.
I'm enjoying messing with grind size, brew time, load amounts, water temps etc.
I can see why people get into coffee, before now it was just 2 spoons of instant and hot.water.

That's be cause immersion brewing like french presses is garbage.

have fun going down the rabbit hole! i tinkered with my recipe for a couple of weeks before settling on one. in addition to playing around with your brewing technique you can try all of the various coffees out there.

coffee is so fun. it's fun to experiment with brewing techniques. it tastes great and makes me feel good, man.

i originally got deep into coffee when i quit drinking. i missed the whole "craft beer" scene with trying new beers, etc. i kinda replaced that with coffee.

i generally agree for anything light or medium roast, but something about a FP works so well with a darker roast.

Darker roasts need something like a pourover the most, they have lighter notes but really need something like a pourover to bring them out.

hmmmm. next time i get a dark roast i'll throw it in my v60 a few times and tinker. but i very rarely buy those. maybe because i've never noticed the finer notes?

I just didn't get much out of trying out the aeropress. Tried a bunch of methods, but none seemed really worth it. Idk.

it's quicker (~90s vs 4minutes+)
easier cleanup
uses a paper filter (eliminates fine particles + oils)
tastes different

Also (and this is probably a niche advantage) if you have a blade grinder its easier to grind for, since you can just go super fine.

Uses less coffee too, in my experience.

Ok I watched it.

This really confirms what I've always been suspicious of: the Aeropress is a fickle monster and produces anywhere from the best coffee to the most ashy sour shite of your life even if you think you've done exactly the same thing twice.

It's why I often reach to my french press if I just can't be bothered being disappointed.

Looking forward to seeing how he breaks down the different things about it.

i used one daily for a couple of years and i eventually had a pretty consistent recipe using the inverted technique. but every so often i'd have something bitter or sour and it was sad. i still have the occasional hiccup with my v60, especially with a new bag of beans, but i'm much more consistent with that and i think it makes a better cup anyway.

i'll probably give his technique(s) a try tho. i think someone on the reddit post said it's gonna be a four video series.
