Kind of embarrassing that they're realizing if you pay someone they'll do work for you.
I suppose it's because there's a separation of perspectives between people and homeless people. And this is the government where everything moves slowly. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Wow, giving homeless people jobs means they'll do them? Crazy.

I see a lot of people who didn't actually read the article.
It's not "giving them a job". It's literally "paying them to clean up after themselves". In other words, the adult equivalent of giving a kid pocket money for tidying their room. (Even the $ amount is more like pocket money than a job.) --- [insert L word here] ... Copied to Clipboard!

When I worked fast food, I had a manager who would give food to homeless people if they cleaned up after other homeless/break down our boxes (and keep them). There are people willing to work if it means a slightly easy survival, and tbh those tasks are fucking braindead easy.

Its sad when my little corner of the globe figured this out before most others. Its also sad that they haven't done anything more productive with the knowledge here.
Discarded needles became a huge problem so they started offering 25 cents per used needle turned in. Not only did it result in less people tossing used needles around, it also results in over 5000 needles being turned in the first week, most of which had been hunted down and picked up by the same people whod likely tossed them there to begin with. --- "A dope trailers no place for a kitty, Ricky.
