So I was waiting for CE to discuss this but there are so many kids being shot to death I guess not. Just last September an autistic 13 y.o. boy was shot to death in Salt Lake City. https://www.npr.org/2020/09/09/910975499/autistic-13-year-old-boy-shot-by-salt-lake-city-police

Before anyone talks about the danger of the situation to the cops.

In the case of the 13 y o shot to death in Chicago (around where I live) they could have handed an arrest ticket to the parents and said bring him in within 24 hours.

In the case of the autistic boy in Salt Lake City . . . just spend whatever money it takes to subdue persons with mental issues without harming them.

they only identified the kid because after hours of trying. A detective looked into missing persons case and found the kids picture. The 21 year old refused to identify himself or the kid.

The only excuse for chasing the kid and the adult into that alley would be that you want to protect the kid from the adult. The foot chase rules will be about safer decisions for all concerned. I doubt that the officers risked their lives chasing into that alley to save the kid from the adult but maybe they did.

Let me know when the footage is asap released. I know my alderman and their alderman have been actively demanding the release this week.

Crime scene is 2 miles from where I live and the neighborhood is similar.

Details from bodycam video were released in the bond hearing proffer for the adult, Ruben Roman. Basically boy did not do what cop said, cop shot boy, and Union President ( elected dictator ) says not obeying makes it justifiable homicide.

I do not know how many Chicagoans feel there is no excuse for shooting a 13 year old but I believe it is at least 50%. I am not including the suburbs, jut the city.

Quit talking like an older person would not have known that the cop was a threat to his life. Stop talking like there was a chance in hell that a kid who was out at 2 am in the morning was going to be a good boy and drop the gun. Stop talking like that cop would have gone in that alley alone after a grown man who knew he had to kill first.

Stop talking like Chicago is going to let cops shoot 13 year olds.

When change comes, it comes. What makes me angry is not the mentally-stuck in the mud. What makes me angry is cops and gangsters who intuitively know how the 13 yo mind works and exploit it.

CE I am calling it now. When the bodycams are released, what the 2 cops say to each other before one stays with gangster and one enters alley is not going to be there.

If I can think of this following, then others have thought it as well. If the police had apprehended the "man who is being charged" way back when the mother reported the boy missing

we would not be here.

Now I have a question for someone who knows about gangs. I was a geeky, even scholarly, kid so I do not. How likely is it that the reason this boy kept sneaking out is that he became addicted to some drug?

Now personally, I think part of the solution is funding an independent 'Union Steward Organization" who will defend Chicago Cops when they do the right thing. It is entirely possible that if those cops agreed not to pursue the boy, then both would be out of jobs at their next review. A legal defense organization exists for cops who shoot 13 y.o.s. (John Catanzara). There has to be one for cops who do not.

uh. The reason for them being in the alley was a shotspotter camera which tracks gunshots. And guess what they had done. they shot a gun... cops are 100 percent justified investigating this
