Lers say someone is seeing another person for accidental bodily harm. In this instance insurance usually covers the bodily harm. The one that was hurt decides to sue the one that caused the injury. If that person commits suicide does the lawsuit go away?

So what exactly is entitled in an estate? Let's say they live with their family member but do not own anything. So their name isnt on the house or car. Can the person sue the family member?

I'd imagine they can sue whatever inheritance the deceased leaves behind and only that, maybe profits made off of a business in that person's name as well?

So if the only thing the person just has electronics and some clothes the suer just gets the money from that and nothing else happens to the family?

Unless the family members have specifically agreed to be guarantors, nope, it can't touch them. Not even partners (though jointly-owned assets can be touched).

Except of course to the extent of "if they sue and win, there's less left for everyone else to inherit", of course.

(Disclaimer: Not a lawyer. This post is a good-faith explanation of what I understand to be the case, but I can't guarantee I'm right.)
