You just need to have the most premier package.. There is still a ton of shit that comes on TV if you like TV enough that you watch also B list shows and educational things on national geographic or the Smithsonian channel and what not.

Plus the cable TV networks are being assholes, there is a ton of TBS, TNT and Comedy Central shows you're not going to see without cable really.

Sure, most of what you may want is on Hulu but they can't afford or even get the rights to all the other 10-15 plus shows that are coming on that go on TBS, TNT and Comedy Central.

That and again there is a ton of National Geographic, Discovery Channel and Smithsonian stuff you'll never see if you don't have cable either.

Again, my point is just to say cable is a lot better than what naysayers/cord cutters say, it's a good time to have cable again as there is a lot of brand new prime time cable TV again..

thing is that cable isn't so much expensive add on when you buy internet. and there are so many streaming services, that after having two and internet, you're paying for a package deal. idk, it sucks.

Besides sports there's no reason to have cable and hasn't been in over a decade.

Does having something like Hulu TV just exceed your internet providers monthly data cap by like 10x? Streaming TV video for hours every day seems like it would use a ton of data.

I haven't had cable for over a decade and I don't regret a second of it.

Agreed, when I had cable, I had like 120 channels and watched maybe 10 on the regular, and 3 of those were sports channels. There is a ton of crap channels, and it seems like it makes the grand package seem better because there is more, but it definitely needs a restructure. On Demand needs to be massive, like they can make that their own Netflix or Hulu of sorts, pay an extra $10 a month and programs are commercial-free or you have the option to fast forward when watching On Demand shows. Also I think being able to pick your channels should be a must if cable is going to survive in the long term. Offer a 10, 25, 50 channel package and let the people pick what networks they want to pay for.

I also havent had anything outside of streaming (including live TV) for about 8 years but I still do see benefits to cable itself that streaming just hasnt been able to replicate. Although, I blame the cable/content companies for not adapting and pricing better.

Same with DirecTV and Dish, or Fiber/IPTV though a cable alternative. The content is good, its just not good enough to justify for most people outside of special interest or sports.

I can wait to watch commercial free or buy the programming later. No need to have it now.

Which is ironic given how many shows/movies people want to watch as soon as theyre available but will say I dont need live TV. Thats essentially what you do want without calling it that and paying for it.

It really should just get to an ala carte cable system and theyd probably make good money if structured well. I mean, Id rather get $10-20 extra from a customer than nothing or a short-term $50+/mo. that pisses them off.

In LA, the biggest cable company charges $44.99 /month for the first 12 months for their cheapest plan. It's $94.99/month for their most expensive plan.

I can get Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Amazon Prime for less per month than the basic cable package. For the price of the most expensive plan, I can throw in Paramount+, HBO Max and STARZ and still be far below 94.99/month.

The point of people "cutting the cord" is to save money. Missing a few shows is moot.

Nah. I can cancel a steaming service with like three clicks.

Everytime I've had to cancel cable its taken an hour+ because they'll transfer you, and then hang up so it doesn't hurt their metrics.

Meh, when a half hour program has 9 minutes taken up by ads I can only stand it for so long.
